Award-Winning Film Director | Screenwriter & Script Doctor | European–U.S. Industry Insight
Acting coaching will be led by Victoria Trofimenko — an award-winning, U.S.-based film director, screenwriter, and educator, and a voting member of the European Film Academy. Known for her visually poetic and emotionally resonant films, Victoria has directed both internationally acclaimed European cinema and U.S. feature film starring Emmy-nominated actors.
As a director who has worked on both sides of the Atlantic, I coach actors with one goal in mind: truth. I help performers access emotional depth, sharpen instincts, and deliver work that resonates with casting directors, producers, and audiences alike. You’ll learn what it means to be seen through the eyes of a director — and how subtle, specific choices influence a director’s decisions.
Victoria has coached actors in the U.S., Belgium, and Ukraine. For four years, she was a Senior Lecturer in Directing at the Kyiv National University of Theatre, Film and TV (Karpenko-Kary) (Ukraine), and led international workshops, ncluding at FAMU in Prague, also she used to teach at the Ukrainian Film School, Inter-school (Ukraine).
Whether you're preparing for a major audition, developing a role, or refining your on-camera presence, our work will go far beyond technique. We’ll explore rhythm, intention, vulnerability, and the emotional truth beneath every line.
Her debut feature Brothers. The Final Confession received international acclaim. Her first English-language film, Bonding — starring Jefferson White, Gloria Reuben, and Tate Donovan — explores themes of intimacy and psychological tension. Trained in Kyiv and now working between Europe and the U.S., Victoria brings a bold, cross-cultural voice to auteur cinema and is currently developing new projects that bridge European artistry with American storytelling.

Victoria teaches on-camera acting with the perspective of film director
Victoria teaches on-camera acting from a director’s perspective.
This isn’t just coaching — it’s an opportunity to experience what it’s like to collaborate directly with a director on your role. She doesn’t claim to invent new methods, but rather creates a symbiosis of established acting schools. Instead of rigidly following or idealizing any one approach, she draws on what truly works — grounded in practical, real-world experience.
Victoria focuses on finding a personalized path to each actor’s inner resources, recognizing that what works for one performer may not work for another. She encourages actors to discover what resonates with them personally and authentically.
Her approach emphasizes physicality. Like a sculptor, she works with body language, muscle memory, psychological nuance, and instinctive reflexes. Through the body’s natural expression, she helps awaken the inner life — the spirit — of the character.
Victoria also teaches actors to feel the space of the frame (mise-en-cadre) — just as they are often taught to feel the scene space (mise-en-scène) in theater. Her focus is on helping actors adjust their performance to the needs and rhythm of the shot — understanding how acting shifts depending on camera distance, framing, and composition.
She also supports actors in exploring character motivation and script analysis with clarity and emotional depth.

What Actors Say About Victoria’s Coaching
Sol Bautista (USA)
Working with Victoria was inspiring. As an immigrant, it took me years to feel confident enough to audition in English, and I often found myself self-sabotaging, doubting whether I was good enough. Victoria not only guided me through the preparation for a theatrical reading but also gently challenged me to trust myself.
Her gift lies in how she balances the precision of a director with deep respect for the actor’s autonomy. That dynamic was incredibly important to me. Collaborating with a woman of her trajectory, courage, and multilingual fluency felt like a unique and humbling privilege.
Victoria is art herself—in the way she sees, envisions, and brings work to life. Her ability to teach, lead, and hold space for creative growth is powerful. If you’re feeling curious or hesitant, take the leap. Working with her is worth every second.
Aurore Schottey Picavet (Belgium)
I was very interested in working with Victoria in particular as she is a director. And she turned out to be a wonderful coach. She has a quick
and subtle eye, very precise, to see through the actor and bring out the best in her/him. She was able to adapt the scenes and the work to each personality, which is not an automatic thing in a workshop with a lot of actors attending. She works without barriers but great respect for the actor, which is also a very important point in this industry. She made me feel at my place,
confident, and come out of my comfort zone to give more, to learn more. There was also a beautiful space for expressing ours needs, doubts or reflections about the work. She made me try out characters I would never have thought of, and work in a new way also, a very specific way. I learned a lot from it. And this is exactly what I am looking for : learning new ways of
acting, new ways into knowing myself, even at 45 years old. Victoria combines high discipline, commitment and tender respect for the actor, which is recipe for success.
David Nordstrand (USA)
Victoria is an expert in the art of subtlety! Her expertise in the physicality and scale of on-camera acting cannot be understated.
If you are serious about a career in film, I implore you to work with her. She will get down to the nitty gritty of your acting with you so there is no misinterpretation of what needs to be done to excel on camera. Do yourself the favor!
Alesia Lifantii (United Kingdom,Ukraine)
I came to Victoria’s workshop as a rather self-assured young woman. At the time, I somehow believed that having a formal education and a bit of filming experience was quite enough to feel like a proper actress. I couldn’t see my own mistakes, though there were plenty of them. I wasn’t at all natural on camera, and my performance was so overacted it was painful to watch. On top of that, my eyes were completely empty.
My screen tests during the workshop were absolutely dreadful, but by observing Victoria’s work with graduates of the film schoo l, who were also participating in the workshop, I began to understand what it means to be truly natural on screen, to exist in the pauses, and to have eyes that are full of presence.
It was from this workshop that I began to realise the vast difference between stage presence and screen presence, between acting in a TV series and acting in a feature film. I wouldn’t say that a few days at any workshop can miraculously teach you everything, but I’m certain that when you find yourself in a creative environment with a good coach, mentor, or director, you begin to see the path you need to follow.
That’s when your personal journey begins, a process of growth and learning from your mistakes, one that never really stops. It’s the path I’m still on, and I’m truly grateful to Ms Victoria for pointing me in the right direction back then.
Johara Belhmane (Belgium)
I took part in the acting workshop organized by Brussels Ciné Studio, it was the author’s course of film director Victoria Trofimenko.
The workshop I took with Victoria Trofimenko was incredible. I learned a lot, in a benevolent and professional atmosphere.
Everything Victoria proposed was well-thought, scalable, and useful. She really took the time to properly explain and help everyone in their apprenticeship. I learned how to take my time and trust in my abilities. Victoria also confronted us with our image on screen, which I thought was really interesting and necessary, especially since it opened up so many conversations about self image as an actor. Everything that we did was done in-depth, professionalism and honesty and was truly useful for actors as well as for directors.
It has helped me much through my next castings and auditions, as well as during my shootings, and I wish I had more time to work with Victoria and will definitely do so if and when the opportunity arises.
Slava Babenkov (Ukraine)
I recommend Victoria’s course to both beginners and professional actors. She pays close attention to the nuances of on-screen performance—subtle details that an actor might easily overlook during preparation. Victoria helps you see your work through the eyes of a director. Sometimes, you leave an audition thinking you’ve done brilliantly, that there was chemistry, only to wonder later why the result doesn’t reflect what you felt in the moment. But during the workshop, when you watch the footage back, you realise it didn’t work at all. What you experience during the interaction with the director can be completely different from what’s actually captured on screen. Seeing your performance alongside others—and from the director’s point of view—helps you understand that what felt powerful in the room may not translate on camera. It gives you a clearer sense of how a director thinks and makes decisions. That insight is incredibly helpful during the audition process, too.
Victoria is an active working director, so she knows exactly what actors need to do in front of the camera. The course includes a strong focus on practical, on-camera work. If I had the chance to attend it again, I’d do so without hesitation.
